Cyber attack that sneaks into the reports of healthy patients and makes the doctor believe they have cancer

Researchers in Israel have created such “malware” to draw attention to serious security deficiencies in medical imaging equipment and networks, which are transmitted between systems through critical infrastructures, as published by The Washington Post.

The virus, which has been tailor-made for lung cancer, allows attackers to “add malignant looking tumors to scanners or resonances before radiologists and doctors examine the results.” Or, the contrary case could be given, that is to say, that the virus eliminated “real cancerous nodules and injuries”, which also would end in an incorrect diagnosis.

This is further evidence of the current lack of security in the world to combat cyberattacks.
